Paesaggio con dischi volanti
Rä Di Martino
2013
Paesaggio con dischi volanti (Castelgiocondo), 2012
80x144 cm
Pigment print on cotton paper
Rä di Martino’s work has transformed a glimpse of the landscape of CastelGiocondo into a fairy-tale place, characterised by the presence of unidentified flying objects in the Tuscan sky – ironically inspired by certain Renaissance paintings said to contain “sightings” – to unveil the unreal aspect of a region often described but rarely understood and used as an image that is no longer linked to the realities of everyday life.
Rä Di Martino
She was born in Rome in 1975. She lives and works in Turin. After travelling the world to study and produce art, in 2005 she moved to New York, where her work focuses mainly on the mediums of film/video and photography. Refined and with a powerful visual impact, her work leads her to confront mechanisms of fiction, particularly the myths and stereotypes of cinema, from the star system to the great dream-producing machines, from Hollywood to Cinecittà. A winner of the Talent Prize in 2008, she has exhibited in various private and public spaces in Italy and abroad.
